Cleveland City Hospital Society http://norton.wrhs.org/collections/view?docId=ead/MS3917.xml The Cleveland City Hospital Society was established in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1863 by the Ladies' Society of the Old Stone Church, and called the Home for the Friendless. It offered care and assistance to victims of the American Civil War, many of whom were homeless Southern refugees. It was incorporated in 1866 as the Cleveland City Hospital Society, with the aim of founding a hospital. A house on Wilson Street was rented in 1866 and called the Wilson Street Hospital. The Society changed its name to the Wilson Street Hospital Association. Wilson Street Hospital was later renamed Cleveland City Hospital. In 1888 it was renamed Lakeside Hospital. In 1925 Lakeside Hospital joined University Hospitals of Cleveland (now known as University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. The collection consists of minutes of the Boards of Trustees of Cleveland City Hospital (1868-1869) and the Wilson Street Hospital Association (1870-1873).
